The best golf tournament software in 2026 depends on what you're running. For weekly leagues, club events and one-day outings that need live scoring, registration and payments at a flat price, GetFairways or Live Tourney. For a private club, resort or association that needs GHIN posting, multi-day events and a facility-level relationship, Golf Genius — or BlueGolf at the association level. For a charity fundraiser, GolfStatus. For a single corporate outing, Event Caddy or a one-event pass.
I build one of the tools on this list, so treat this as what it is: a founder's comparison. I've put GetFairways' gaps in the table next to everyone else's, because a roundup that ranks its own product first on everything is an ad, and you'd be right to ignore it. If you want the shortest possible answer, use the table. If you want the reasoning, keep reading.
What actually matters when you choose
Most tournament platforms claim the same feature list. The differences that bite you show up on event day and on the invoice. Before you compare logos, get clear on five things:
- Live scoring that spectators can follow without an app. If players or family have to download something, participation drops. Web-based leaderboards win.
- Registration and payments in one place. Collecting entry fees by hand is where organizers lose hours — and sometimes money.
- Handicap and format support. USGA playing handicaps, gross and net leaderboards, and the formats you actually run (scramble, Stableford, best ball, stroke play).
- Honest, predictable pricing. Watch for per-player fees, payment surcharges and onboarding charges that aren't on the pricing page.
- The right fit for your size. A state association and a Saturday club event need very different tools. Paying for enterprise features you'll never use is its own cost.
The 2026 comparison at a glance
| Software | Best for | Pricing (published) | Falls short on |
|---|---|---|---|
| GetFairways | Weekly leagues, club events and one-day outings at a flat price | $599/yr, or $99 single-event pass; 7-day free trial | No GHIN sync. No multi-day or shotgun-start tooling. No facility tier yet. |
| Golf Genius | Private clubs, resorts and associations: GHIN, multi-day, full suite | ~$1,425–$4,275/yr + onboarding (US/CA, up to 36 holes) | Price and setup time. Overkill for a single league or outing. |
| Live Tourney | Organizers wanting an affordable, modern all-in-one | Free trial; paid plans (see their pricing) | Same scope as GetFairways — not an enterprise or association tool either. |
| GolfStatus | Charity and nonprofit fundraisers | Free to qualifying nonprofits; demo-led | No public pricing. Fundraising machinery is overhead for a non-charity event. |
| BlueGolf | State and regional golf associations, elite competitions | Contact sales (enterprise) | Dated experience; enterprise-only pricing. |
| Event Caddy | One-off fundraiser and corporate events | Free tier; Pro from ~$499/event | Per-event cost adds up fast across a season. |
Pricing reflects publicly listed figures at the time of writing and changes often; confirm current rates with each vendor. Vendors without a public pricing page are shown as "contact sales."
The platforms, one by one
GetFairways
I'll start with mine, gaps first, so you can judge the rest against it. GetFairways is built for the organizer who wants to run a better league or event without becoming a software admin. You create the event, share a registration link, build flights and pairings, and players and spectators follow a live leaderboard on any phone — no app download.
It runs stroke play, scramble, best ball, Stableford, combined gross and low ball, plus match play as a bracket or a season-long league with points, any of them gross or net with USGA handicaps. Skins, closest-to-pin and longest drive run alongside any event. Scoring saves on the phone and syncs when signal returns. Leagues get season standings, subs and co-admin logins; charity outings can sell mulligans, raffle tickets and donations at registration with sponsor logos on the board. Pricing is flat and public: a 7-day free trial, then $599/year or a $99 single-event pass, with no per-player fees and no platform fee on Stripe payments.
Where GetFairways loses: there is no GHIN sync, so scores don't post to the handicap service automatically. There is no multi-day or shotgun-start tooling. And there is no facility tier — if you're buying for a pro shop that wants multiple staff logins, invoice billing and an onboarding call, that isn't on the pricing page yet. For any of those three, Golf Genius is the right call today, and I'd rather tell you that here than have you find out in week two.
Golf Genius
Golf Genius is the enterprise standard, and it earns that reputation: the deepest format library, multi-day and shotgun events, season-long competitions, TV leaderboards, GHIN integration and a mobile app with live scoring. It's trusted by a long list of marquee private clubs, and it's the tool built around a facility relationship — staff seats, onboarding, a rep. If you run complex, high-volume events and want every feature under one roof, it's hard to beat, and on GHIN, multi-day and facility support it simply does things GetFairways doesn't.
The trade-offs are price and complexity. Published US/Canada rates run from about $1,425/year for the Club tier to around $4,275/year for Club Premium, plus onboarding fees. For a single club event or a weekend league, that's a lot of platform. If you've outgrown Golf Genius's price rather than its features, we wrote a dedicated Golf Genius alternative breakdown.
Watch out for: higher cost, onboarding charges, and more setup than a small event needs.
Live Tourney
Live Tourney is our closest direct competitor, and credit where it's due — it's a clean, modern all-in-one with a genuinely useful content library. It positions itself much the way we do: an affordable, simpler alternative to the enterprise tools. If you're weighing us against Live Tourney, you're comparing two products aimed at the same organizer. Trial both and pick the interface and pricing structure that fits how you actually run events.
Watch out for: similar scope to GetFairways — the decision comes down to fit and price.
GolfStatus
If your event exists to raise money, GolfStatus is built for exactly that. It layers sponsorship packages, donation collection, pin-flag and hole signage sponsorships and fundraising-specific tools on top of standard tournament management, and it's free to qualifying nonprofits. For a charity scramble, it's a strong, specialized choice. For a general club championship or recreational league, much of that machinery is overhead you don't need.
Watch out for: demo-led with no public pricing, and overbuilt for non-charity events.
BlueGolf and Event Caddy
BlueGolf has deep roots running events for state and regional golf associations and elite competitions. It's robust and credible at that level, though the experience feels more dated than the newer tools and pricing is enterprise-only.
Event Caddy focuses on fundraiser and corporate outings with a free tier and a per-event Pro plan from roughly $499 per event — reasonable for a single annual outing, but the per-event model adds up quickly if you run a series or a season.
How to choose in one minute
- Weekly league, club event or one-day outing with predictable cost: start with GetFairways or Live Tourney.
- GHIN posting, multi-day or shotgun events, or a pro shop buying for the whole facility: Golf Genius. GetFairways isn't there yet — don't let a cheaper price talk you into the wrong tool.
- State or regional association running elite competitions: BlueGolf.
- Charity fundraiser: GolfStatus.
- One-off corporate outing: Event Caddy, or a GetFairways single pass.
- Season-long league: make sure the tool handles cumulative standings — here's how we approach golf league software.
Don't pick on feature count — pick on your dealbreakers. Write down the two or three things that would make you switch tools mid-season (GHIN posting, a shotgun start, no-app spectating, payments in one place, the full cost on the pricing page) and eliminate anything that fails one of them. Then trial what's left with a real event before you commit.
No single platform is "the best" for everyone — the best golf tournament software is the one that matches the event you're actually running and the budget you actually have. The good news is that most of these offer a free trial, so you can test the setup flow with a real event before you commit.
